These 300 English entries mark the beginning of a translation job covering extensive online material from the Portuguese version.

There are 7,000 words in total, out of which these 300 – selected and compiled from the original version by PhD’s in Language and Literature Júlio Diniz and Fred Góes – form an outstanding summary in terms of relevance and probable data retrieving by English-speaking researchers.

This extension job into English must continue. In order to do so, we kindly request some support – sponsorship, possibly partnership – from those who have access to this (exclusively non-profit and non-commercial) data base.

Please read some further information on this Web site and learn a little more about our job.

In addition to its relevance as an aesthetic manifestation of Brazil’s multiple cultural identities, MPB is one of the most powerful tools for preserving people’s memories and a privileged social space for views and interpretations of Brazil.

The Cravo Albin Cultural Institute, a civil, non-profit organization headquartered in Rio de Janeiro City, was established in 2001. ICCA was designed to promote and support cultural research activities, particularly the Cravo Albin Dictionary of Brazilian Popular Music.
